Hi guys,

We have a camera in our bird box and my blue tit laid her eggs over a month ago and we fear they aren’t going to hatch. However, we are a little concerned for her health as she rarely leaves the box to get food and we’ve only seen the male once or twice. We don’t want any harm to come of her.
Do you have any advice.

Thanks

Harry

Let nature take it's course. She'll leave in time but instinct is to carry on incubating even if the eggs are infertile.

Hi there Harry and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum :t:

Hi Harry and a warm welcome from me too.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.

Blue Tits only have one brood per year, so she's likely desperately hoping that an egg or two will hatch. She will give up in the end though, as Pat has said. Incubation takes about 2 weeks on average, so if you have your timings right, that time is long past.

Please let us know what happens.

Welcome to BirdForum! I am sure you will find lots to interest you here, and I hope you enjoy your visits. It's a shame about your blue tit nest.
