Birding around Seattle and Vancouver (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone! from the 31st March I will be spending two weeks in Washington State and British Columbia which I am very excited about. The majority of the time we will be based around the Olympic National Park and the Mount Rainier National Park but we will also be travelling up to Canada to visit Vancouver and Whistler at some point and stopping off on the way up.

I've done a little research already but can any one with prior experience or knowledge give me an idea of what to expect at this time of year and where to visit? I'm also a little bit confused as to when some of the migrants arrive if anyone can point me in the right direction with that! Wood warblers etc?

Many thanks! :t:

Google Reifel Bird Sanctuary near Vancouver, which is a must, also Twassassen Harbour nearby has thousands of wildfowl. The route you are taking you will see plenty of Bald Eagles, Yellow rumped Warblers, Dark-eyed Junco's, and Rufous Hummingbirds darting around.

That will do for starters.

Perfect, I had a look at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary and Twassassen Harbour and they both look great. Thank you very much Wolfbirder!

Any additional information any one can provide for the Seattle area? That would be greatly appreciated. I've been on Ebird and Discovery Park seems worth a visit.

I can't add much more but I've found the following local forum which may offer some local gen nearer the time: http://birding.bc.ca/community/index.php I suspect there are parallels to be drawn with birding in the UK in that fall conditions (low cloud/rain/fog) will result in an arrival, with perhaps Pacific Spirit Park (and certainly Cecil Green Park) offering potential for landfall within the Vancouver city district: http://www.naturevancouver.ca/Birding_Birding_Sites
We've just booked for 10 days in September later this year, so I'd also appreciate any further information. Hope this helps a bit.

Okay, that's great help anyway. I've had a browse on the forum and it looks like it could provide some good info too. Thank you!
