Sagres Bird Festival runs for 4 days this year.
See the website in English (and Portuguese and Spanish) here:
A multitude of activities are offered, many of them free - just register on the website and turn up!
Apart from birdwatching trips around the peninsula, there's plenty more of things to participate in; ringing sessions, raptor monitoring, talks and presentations, pelagic boat trips and much more including activities related with other nature, the local history and things for children to do too.
If none of this is tempting; 143 species were seen during the 3 days of last years festival - inc. some 20 species of raptors. Additionally, Sagres is brilliant for fresh fish in some charming seaside restaurants (we now also have a fabulous Indian restaurant if one gets homesick ). Sagres has the most stunning beaches in the Algarve (and that's saying something!) - so non-birding wives are well catered for too!
