Why didn't they buy it to release it? Surely it would have cost next to nothing...

Well at least the species is still (?) out there.

It does not say if they bought it or not... unless I am mistaken.


That is a good story and a sad story at the same time... :-C
 
Another name for this species is Luzon's buttonquail. As several media releases state that it was thought to be extinct i would like to know when was the last record before the sighting in 2009.

The Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History found several specimens in 2007 (but no photographic evidence clearly).
