Mystery Finch near Warrington (1 Viewer)

Some one has just sent me this photo of a bird in her garden near Warrington. At first I thought it was a Siskin but it looks a bit unusual with its rather black cheeks, so not sure if that's what it is.

Not doubting the ID (1st yr male?) but Yellow-crowned Bishop is in full breeding plumage down here in S.Portugal at the moment - and still breeding, they do so in the autumn.
