Hi,

I saw this bird near Kaikoura ( NZ ).
I suppose Yellow-faced Comorant ( Phalacrocorax varius ) ?

Yes, this is a Pied Cormorant, Phalacrocorax varius. The only other "pied" cormorant is the Little Pied, which has a short yellow bill, and lacks yellow in front of the eye.
