I had spent some time looking for Waxwings on the outskirts of the Valley today and popped in to the Crematorium at about 13:35 knowing there were still berries on various trees and bush’s. I hadn’t been scanning for long when at 13:45 I picked up a Egret flying fairly low over Brownies towards me I was expecting a Little Egret has there had been a bird about for a couple of days, has the bird got closer I could pick out the Large dagger shaped yellow bill. Bloody hell I thought or words to that affect a Great White Egret. Even with no other birds for size comparison you could see it was a large bird, has it flew over my head the large kink in the neck stood out, long legs and black feet where all noted. I watched the bird till it went out of view over Ray Hall. This is only the second record for the Valley the last being on the 24th October 2013 on Swan Pool.
