Bird ID help (1 Viewer)

We're trying to get a better look at this one, but it's quick and somewhat timid. I'm in SW Idaho (Kuna). Bird is small (6") with a distinct backswept pointed crest, perching, seen on ground and on flat picnic table; husband says he saw black eye-stripe, gray with lighter belly/underparts. (I only saw it the first time, silhouette; son said it was gray; husband saw it a second time, more clearly, but he's only a bird person by association).

I can't find the combination of eye stripe, crest, perching, small, at least not ranging into our area...Anyone?
