I would like to make it known that my wife forced me to post this. I think this bird is not IDable, but she hopes for a confirmation of here carefully crafted theory that this is a Lappet-faced Vulture.

Help save a marriage a day. ID a bird!

If it seen in a scope and not just photographed, this view could have been good enough, at least for me

Too much neck for Cinereous and not enough for any Griffon, and a huge brute of a bill with that distinct curved top edge in the top right pic... if it's not a Lappet it's doing a damn good impression of one!

Yes it looks ID-able as a LFV. Was this in the northern Omani Owl Mts? We had LFV in the Al Ghubra Bowl.

To me this looks neither Aegypius, nor Gyps ; and if you´r esure this head and bill shape are not an artefact (they don´t look like one ) I ´'d say LFV ...

This is a bit more to the east, near the NE corner of Wadi Sireen reserve (not far from the main road between Muscat and Quriyat.
