I resisted heading for Rutland Water and stuck to sites between Loughborough and Leicester to 'score' a respectable 71 species in a full day.

Highlights were a new White-fronted Goose, a nice adult Caspian Gull and three of the wintering Short-eared Owls at Cossington.

95 species were seen at Rutland Water by Matt Berriman.
