Lesser Canada Goose classifications (1 Viewer)

There may be a Cackling Goose in my area at the moment which makes me pay a bit closer attention to the Canada Geese and make note of the ones that are Lesser Canada. One I saw yesterday was smaller than the other Canadas in the area but not a Cackling and I am not sure how to classify a Lesser Canada Goose properly - Sibley's article on this says the Lessers are Parvipes but that they may interbreed with mofitti/maximi - my instinct would be to choose Parvipes but there was no eBird option to do this so I chose the one they are known to interbreed with - Lesser Canadas and goose separation in general is very hard and there doesn't seem to be enough choices on eBird to match the variants we see here in Nova Scotia during their migration, which seems to be on now.

This is a lovely article but I'm still confused after several years of birding.
