I am in the Panhandle and enjoy going over to the many waterways and beaches in Florida and Alabama to bird watch. In Santa Rosa County, there are several places to go on the beach.
One of my favorite places in Escambia County is the Naval Air Station. At the post, you get a map and if you ask, will be directed on where some good bird places are. I often go to the lighthouse and then walk behind it to the beach . Eventually, you will come to a pond. Good birding there. Snow Egrets, terns, gulls, all kinds of sandpipers, Willets, Ospreys, etc.
