Magpies & Birdtables (1 Viewer)

Although our flatbed birdtable is open to any birds that need a feed, we are becoming a little concerned about a magpie that is starting to monopolise it and keep the smaller birds away (no sign of our regular robin in the last few days). He has munched his way through a vast quantity of sunflower seeds today! Having a small back garden there is little place for a second feeding station and we are just wondering if other members have any ideas as to deter him from scoffing all the food intended for those a lot smaller than him!
Thanks
Scott

Surely a seed feeder would be better than a bird table?

Hang it from a tree branch or stick it on top of a pole. Problem solved!

There are feeders available that are said to restrict entry to smaller birds - try catalogue number CC29 at www.gardenbird.com

We have found this company to be very efficient - there are also lots of squirrel resistant hanging feeders - although we are plagued with magpies, I have never seen one on a hanging feeder. Good luck!
