Hi
Just thought I´d do a brief report of the mothing here in Mallorca in s´Albufera (a very large wetland reserve). Last night was clear and cold so I had what was probably the lowest trap catch of the trip so far. For anyone familiar with British moths it´s an odd mix of common British species, regular and scarce migrants and a few local specialities. The full list was as follows:
1 Acrobasis bithynella
1 Agdistis tamaricis
1 Agrotis ipsilon
4 Agrotis segetum
18 Agrotis trux
1 Apomyelois ceratoniae
1 Bedellia somnulentella
1 Chiasmia aestimaria
1 Chortodes pygmina
1 Coptotriche marginea
4 Cryphia algae
1 Dextellia dorsolineella
2 Duponchelia fovealis
1 Eilema caniola ssp. torsteni
1 Eilema rungsi
1 Ethmia bipunctella
1 Eublemma parva
6 Gypsonoma minutana
8 Helicoverpa armigera
1 Hellula undalis
2 Hoplodrina ambigua
1 Idaea degeneraria
1 Leucania joannisi
2 Leucania zeae
1 Maradana fuscolimbalis
1 Meganola albula
1 Mythimna unipuncta
6 Noctua pronuba
1 Nodaria nodosalis
4 Nola squalida
9 Nomophila noctuella
1 Ochropleura leucogaster
1 Palpita vitrealis
2 Palumbina guerini
2 Parapoynx stratiotata
1 Pelosia plumosa
1 Phaiogramma faustinata
2 Proxenus hospes
7 Rhizedra lutosa
1 Rhodometra sacraria
10 Spodoptera cilium
30 Spodoptera exigua
5 Spodoptera littoralis
5 Xestia xanthographa
Best wishes
Martin

A bit better than my one Large Yellow Underwing last night.

According to my wife the fact that I would get more moths isn't sufficient justification for emigrating. It is to me |=)|

It´s turned warm and humid again here so I hope it will result in some more interesting moths before I head home on Friday.
This trip has added at least three new Balearic Island records, plus quite a few new site records.
I´ll be back for two weeks in mid-November so will see what different species are on the wing then.
