Britain's largest seabird is thriving on East Yorkshire's rugged cliffs, with gannets greedy for a nesting spot at Bempton Cliffs. A survey by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has revealed the upward trend and confirms that East Yorkshire is one of the most important sites in the UK for these spectacular seabirds. The count of the nesting gannets at the RSPB's Bempton Cliffs reserve, near Bridlington, revealed a record total of 3,498 nests – a 37 per cent increase since the last survey in 1999.
