What is an 'Irish thrush'? (1 Viewer)

A non-birding friend recently visited the Malin Head area and described five birds present on the ground near farmland. About crow sized, black head and tail with a grey back. I suggested Hooded Crow but she'd looked in a book and said no. A local had told her "we call those Irish Thrushes". Anyone any idea what he was talking about please.

could even be jackdaws depending what is defined as head and as grey. depends on the light sometimes, mine can look black, silver or grey.
