Dusk calling bird, Catskills, NY (1 Viewer)

Hi, trying to ID the bird whose call I love to hear at dusk in the warmer months here. Typically a rapid four-note call, D B E D, sometimes alternating with a three-note D B D-sharp with a trill on the third note (the actual notes are approximations, but to give a sense of the relationship between pitches). I've been through all the birdcall MP3s at http://www.math.sunysb.edu/~tony/birds/ but haven't found this particular friend. Any input much appreciated.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Your description sounds a bit like a Wood Thrush to me. They are more active at dawn and dusk too.

Listen to them at this link.

Maybe this one in particular.

If that isn't it, it would be helpful to know in what type of habitat you are hearing the bird.

Mike
