Police are asking for vigilance from birders as breeding season approaches. To report any suspicious behaviour around nests call 0800 555111 with descriptions of persons + vehicles involved. Thanks.

A word of caution, don't wade in yourself. Some nasty people involved in wildlife crime.

Take detailed descriptions and report it. Most county's Police Forces have a dedicated wildlife officer.

I wouldn't even try photographing them if you are within easy reach or visible either. A good description should suit the coppers.

nesting birds, please telephone descriptions of any suspicious

Well worth putting this number in your notebook or into your mobile phone.

Get Car registration Numbers if you can. Get a good description of the offender. ie Male white, five foot six, slight build, Tattoos, distinquishing marks.

Many are serial eggers & can be identified pretty quickly.

The number is crime stoppers. In an emergency dial 999 if on a mobile try & tell them your location & if possible a grid reference.

Do not approach the offenders, wait for help.
