I finally decided to sell my G3 and keep the FZ150, and have posted my final set of comparisons over here:

It was a very close thing and looking back at some of the photos I took I'm not yet sure I don't regret my decision, but on balance I just don't think the difference between the cameras for my purposes was enough to justify the price difference.

Thanks for these posts. I've followed your reactions with interest. As a non-photographer I've been surprised to get some images that are recognizeably bird-like with my Pana FZ45, but, despite just being personal record shots, they-re never quite satisfying enough. So I've been dithering about upgrading to an FZ150 or G3/300mm; the former may win on price alone...
