Point Pelee Birding This Fall (1 Viewer)

This fall in the Point Pelee region has been rockin!!

Last month we had our third ever White-faced Ibis, and we've had a mini invasion of Cave Swallows here as well this past week. Yup CAVE SWALLOWS!!

Franklin's Gull, Black-legged Kittiwake and both Parasitic and Long-tailed Jaeger have been reported from the tip as well as Sabine's Gull which is a rare but annual visiter each fall.

For those who plan to ever visit Pelee in the fall months, the best way to get a Jaeger or a Sabine's is on days (preferably cold) with strong Southwest winds. Northwest winds (or any northerly wind) are great for hawk watching and the hawks here offer excellent views!!

Northern Ontario finches are having a mini invasion this winter it seems. Evening Grosbeaks, Purple Finch, Common Redpoll and Pine Siskins have all been reported in small numbers.

Yup, Pelee isn't just for spring, the fall is just as good..sometimes even better!!!
