Larus cachinnans? (1 Viewer)

Israel, today. This gull stood out among about a dozen Yellow-legged ones.

Is it a Caspian gull or just a sub-adult YLG?

And if indeed a Caspian - shouldn't the eye be darker?

Thanks in advance.

these birds are all larus michahellis, YLG. but you've got the streak headed one which prob. is a 3rd winter and slightly odd in its streaking and then the adult types, partly good examples of the 'eastern type' with restricted black in wingtip.
