dactylorhiza sp id please? (Guernsey) (1 Viewer)

Quote from Sue Daly's book "Wildlife of the Channel Islands"

"The Southern Marsh-Orchid, Dactylorhiza praetermissa is easy to confuse with Heath and Early spotted orchids, a mistake made all the more easy by the number of hybrids between these three species"

.... but Southern-marsh should have unspotted leaves... the flower shape isn't quite right for Comon spotted... and there's fewer spots on the leaves than would be expected

Hmm I dunno... and I need to be back at work! L8rs

I was looking at the Guernsey bio records site which similarly pointed out the leaf-spotting issue. I think for the reason of the shape and the leaf spotting I'm going with a heath/southern marsh hybrid.

Is there much in flower on sark?

Sark's sinking under the weight of flowers!

You come here to do a garden... and find that nature doesn't need help!
