Purple Sandpiper: age?

Could you help me to know if these Purple Sandpipers were adults or 1st winter?

In these pictures:

[1] november

[2] february

[3] november

What have I to look? bill and legs have different colour for example? or only I have to watch plumage?

THANK YOU!

Hi Maurizio,

The first is an adult, the rest are first winter birds.

Colour of bill and legs aren't useful, but the wingcoverts and tertials have well defined whitish edges in first winter, whereas these are more uniform grey, only diffusely edged pale grey in adults.

The first picture is really nice.....you can clearly see the purple sheen!
