so much for a lie in this morning, the car is in for a service so I
thought go out later have an extra hours kip!! no chance. my
mate thought we should up and away, so friday night he says I
will pick you up 0-530am groan and go to R.S.P.B. MARSHSIDE.
+ martin-mere.so heres how it went.
on the way to southport on the A 59 TARLETON by-pass there
were 2 barn owls flying up and down the hedgerows, we pulled
over as it was very quite and got good veiws of them this is
the 2nd time these owls have been seen in this area.

arrived marshside about 0-620am walked up the coast road
towards pier plenty of blackheaded gulls in different stages of
moult. + lesser b. b. gulls. headed back to sandgrounders hide,
hides dont open till 08-30ish but the track by the side of this
hide gives good views of the pools,
1 pair avocets with youngster.
16 black-tailed godwits.
1 common snipe.
1 common sandpiper.
1 sedge wabler seen. others heard.
set of for nells hide but water levels to low, + a lot of cattle
grazing. headed of to martin mere.
must say it was very quite at martin-mere.
30+ 1st winter blackheaded gulls.
70+ lapwings.
4 juv goldfinches.
1 curlew.
4 tree sparrow.
8 collared dove.
6 greenshank.
and with that it was home for a hours kip.
