The link is to what appears to be pure speculation on the DP Review forum from 11 months ago. There was subsequently a July 11 unconfirmed rumor posted on 4/3 Rumors with the same focal length but no maximum apertures.

Any lens that offers 400 millimeters at f4.5 would almost certainly be considerably heavier than the PL 100-400, so not sure how attractive it would be as a carry around lens.

My reference was to the 43rumours page in regards to this being unconfirmed.

That lens would be fitted with a 89mm front lens. It would still be portable, although clearly heavier than the 100-400. How much is depending on the optical design and selection of material.

It would however cannibalize on the 300/F4 (+MC14) having more or less same the same speed at 300mm. At 400mm it would be almost 2/3 stops faster however most telezooms tend to soften at the longest zoom range, so that advantage may very well be eaten up as you need to stop down for sharp results.

The success would be gated by pricing considering the competition from the well regarded and popular Panasonic 100-400 lens. Tough to beat.

What would make more sense to me looking at the competitive landscape is something like a 150-500 F/5.6 or 150mm-600mm F/6.7. Keeping control of weight to allow portablity and long sessions of hand-shooting is critical for success. To me that means less than 3kg, 2kg would be nice.

On the 4/3 rumours page, they only thing mentioned was the 150-400 focal length, they did not even have a rumour about the F-stop. The post on DPReview seems pure speculation regarding that.
