NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Organising Committee, and we have just held the celebratory week in this country with the theme:- Voice Treaty Truth.
Isn't it time for all of us on the Conservation Forum to sit up and question whether our environmental laws worldwide are working? Will ever work? Have any chance of stemming the tide of destruction and paths toward extinction? The declining Black-throated Finch couldn't do it .....
I have a very special message from on country direct from Bwgcolman (many tribes, one people) Sovereign Elder and Lawman Whanjullah Imbala. I will let the peace and nobility of this man speak for itself. They are the original water protectors.

Cynically, mining giants, and others, have tried to sponsor various celebrations in areas of interest to them - and been rejected by the local indigenous community.
In a 'first world' country, where environmental laws have no real power (look at the panicked Queensland state labour government back flip in approving the Adani coal mine double quick after a Federal election backlash against the Labour Party). Yes there are Sovereign and Political issues, but let us all as concerned citizens on this forum recognize that the main game in town is Sustainability, Conservation, and Environmental regulation or lack thereof.
For aboriginal people there is no separation between the land and the people. Governments (on all political sides), big corporations, and others hell bent on exploitation, know that indigenous peoples will be the champions of the strongest and most effective environmental laws.
