On nights where the sailing pool car park gets locked at around 8pm, where is the best place to park please? I noticed barriers and cones have gone up recently outside the entrance.

I suspect the official answer is the Moors Pool car park but its a bit of a trek; I might be tempted to try to The Swan. It would be a shame if the summer roost (Meds and other rarer gulls plus Curlew) wasn't watched.

I don't think the cones and barriers are intended to prevent parking, more, apparently, to provide a 'safe' walkway from one car park to the other. Yes I know, why not direct people to walk the other of the fence! However this does present parking issues & there is no simple solution other then winning the lottery & buying some land for the Trust to convert to a car park 😔

Bumped into Gary ( Biking Birder ) at Minsmere yesterday , asked me to pass on his regards to all .
He was on site at 5am , had three nightingales in full voice on the access road ,seems to be in fine form and well on the way to his target .
Personally had a golden 10 minutes with a Bitern in full view right in front of the hide , magical place .

The 2 1st summer Meds
1. 12th April
2. 19th April

in my opinion different birds. pics not brilliant , but Bill and facial 'mask' main features that are obviously dissimilar.

Good to be finally able to manage a weekday visit on the reserve today though quiet on the birding front had a good sunny afternoon picking up one or two new species of Butterflies for the year : Good numbers of Green-veined White, Orange-tip and Peacocks a couple of small Torts. plus one of each of Brimstone and Comma (missed out on Speckled Wood.) But nothing settled long enough for a decent record shot. Did manage to capture a shot of this little chap that popped up less than a few feet from me though.

Nonchalant Water Rail preened, stretched and stalked openly; caught a fish and squealed a lot.

Andy Pitt has got a Marsh Harrier at the Flashes . It landed in the 3rd Flash reed bed at 6.45 am. They don't normally hang around but you never know..But was mobbed by BHG'S and dropped back into reeds. :t:

Nice one Andy. A day of easterlies and heavy cloud cover could potentially see some good birds drop into the reserve today.
