Bad Weather And Birds. (1 Viewer)

I think the birds always seem to know when the really bad weather is on its way. You have only got to watch their feeding habits. Two days ago just before we got the bad snowfall they were feeding more than normal. There is a lot we dont know about our feathered friends. Next time I will not bother to tune in to the weather forecast I will look at the birds feeding habits.

Hi Donald
i do'nt live that far from you and have the same problems with the forecast, i look at the BBC 5 day weather forecast. it changes every day, youmight aswell stick you head out the window on the day your going birding and see if it gets wet

regards ron

I've noted the same thing offshore a number of times. Numbers of sooty shearwater and other seabirds will start moving well ahead (ie a day or two) of poor weather. I use them as a secondary source of weather forecasting.
