England - Duck ID help please (1 Viewer)

Took this shot last weekend at Low Barns Nature Reserve, Witton-le-Wear, County Durham, England. Bird in question is centre of shot, brown duck with white wing bar. Lapwing and female Mallard should provide some scale.

I’m sure I shall kick myself when someone IDs it for me.

I just wanted to add that a female or a 1 CY Gadwall is hiding behind a trunk (just below the right Lapwing). Compare colours and individual feather pattetn to the Mallard on the left. Restricted white on the belly is also good for Gadwall, or am I again trying to hard here? It looks good for Gadwall on first sight, so I think it is indeed one (and no Mallard, Teal, or Garganey)
