Watercolour effect

I wonder if anyone can explain the "watercolour effect" in this shot.

This is the original file from the camera, quite big and completely unedited

Beyond me, but perhaps try one of the Fuji web sites or one of the photography forums.
It seems clear that the cameras built in image processing applied some effect
that produces this painted look. I do not think that this is a normal performance. Are there any pictures immediately before or after that might help find out what is happening here?

That could be the effect of aggressive NR so if you haven't set it up yet, dial it to -2 (lowest) and Sharpness to 0.
