my friends and i were at chasewater light railway on bank holiday monday and had a great time on the steam train especially as i`m a steam buff!
on the return journey loco was taken off to be put on the front of the train and while we waited for it to be coupled my friend noticed a bird flew out of a square hole in the buffer of a wooden truck on the rails next to our train. i watched and saw a great tit fly out of the hole ! another one flew in and out . een a bee ventured in but soon came out! they obviously had a nest in the hole with chicks in. i`d never see great tits in an unusual nest site before. amazing to watch . a goldfinch was on top of the truck. too.:cat:
