celestron noble 10x50

Hi, I'm looking for some mid-price binoculars for general birding - I went to the store today and tried out several different pairs - my fav was the
Celestron noble 10x50 - does anyone have any good/bad experiences with this brand, or these bins? I notice most people go for a lower diameter than this for birding - why is this? will this size be ok for birding?

Thanks for your help, JP
