Hi can you ID this gull from this shot DSC_9695, I have 2 more photos to post later, DSC_9701 and DSC_9705 I'm saying is a 1st winter Lesser Black Back Gull

Hi Hugh,

Yup, agree with the above postees. Note the dark 'under' secondaries/primaries on the underwing of the 1st gull.

The 2nd gull superficially looks like a YLG but note the brownish tail band, messy streaking on the neck, bill colour, head shape etc. A lot of 1st winter Herrings look pale at this time of year.
