loosen focus... (1 Viewer)

Does it also involve colder temperatures?
Lots of reports for harder focus function for cold waterproof porros.
I keep bins under my winter coat on a neck strap, might help.
My bin is not waterproof but it still tightens up some in the cold.

I currently have two 8x40ish external focussing waterproof porros (not Nikon). They are both significantly stiffer than my non-waterproof porros at all temperatures due to the sealing glands, which as Binastro has pointed out are necessary to make them waterproof. It doesn't get cold enough here for significant temperature effects.

My waterproof porros that use internal focussing get round this problem, but at the expense of a narrower fov and low geared focussing.

The original way (and still used where appropriate) to make porros waterproof was to have individually focussed eyepieces, great for staring at boats on the horizon but fairly useless for birds.
