Without habitat, there is no wildlife. It's that simple.

As your with BT and your download speed is above 2Mbps then you will be on the variable rate product called DSL Max. As your only syncing at 2.4Mbps you are either quite some distance from your local exchange or there is another problem. The most common issue with DSL Max is internal wiring and the only way to check this is to have your modem connected to the master socket preferably without the frontplate connected which will remove the internal wiring and give you the purest form of connection possible. If this is possible try doing another speed test with ADSL guide and see if theres a difference, if very little then the internal wiring should be okay, obviously every working phone socket must have a splitter in, so phones, faxes, sky boxes, alarm diallers should all run through a splitter. The modem as stated yesterday doesn't appear to be one of the more common units, it may be that as the technology is fairly old that you may be in need of a new one and if you have internal wiring or noise problems getting a wireless router and running it from the master socket will help alot.
Any how thats a lot of investigating to start and we'd all rather be out there than in here.
Let us know how you get on
Regards
Steve

Back to your damaged cable Annette, best to replace it to rule it out - Scan code LN179 (0.46) should be the correct one, I'd take the old one along to check!

They also stock microfilters, which will help rule out any problems in that area; cheap ones Scan code LN4008 are 1.16, or branded (better components?) Scan code LN9205 at 6.10.
