If I can attach a picture I would like to know if anyone can ID this little bird....thought it might be an allen's hummingbird but the collor scheme does not match any assistance would be greatly appreciated...

Hi Henry,

What a lovely looking Hummer. I think this one is a Rufous Hummingbird Selasphorus rufus - an adult male. Apparently there is quite a bit of variation in the amount of green colour that can show.
 
Thank You both, it's the sharp contrast of colors near the head that confuses me. Brand new to birding and truly appreciate your help.

That's a beautiful hummer Henry. We have a couple of wayward rufous hummers here in Myrtle Beach but darned if I have laid eyes on them. I am constantly on the lookout.
 
Here's the mate me thinkst.....

As a newby I think I figured something out...take the picture first then later with the pic try to ID the bird...lol
