Best places to bird round Manchester? (1 Viewer)

I'm a Salfordian moved down south, but I'm coming back home for a week at the end of August and was wondering the best places to go since I could probably squeeze in one or two visits during that time.

Pennington Flash is a consideration, a train to Martin Mere, Salford Quays - but are any of these places particularly worthwhile at this time of year?

I don't rate Martin Mere in summer - more of an autumn winter place. Pennington is great, just be early at weekends to avoid to crowds that come later. Check out Manchester Birding website for other worthwhile places.
