Best Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder? (1 Viewer)

Hello everyone, I am new here, and I have been looking for a good bird forum, my question is, do anyone here have a squirrel proof bird feeder, that works? thanks so much

Any of the Squirrel Buster products by Brome are great and do work! You have to hang them correctly though. The perch cannot be within 16 inches of anything, so the squirrel cannot hang his back legs on something, and reach over to the feeder. The full weight of the squirrel must be on the feeder.

I have the Plus model, and 2 of the Mini's and then I got the Peanut Plus feeder too. They are a bit pricey, but they do work. If you are close to a Lowes, they carry them, and Amazon carries them too :t:

I don't use squirrel-proof feeders, so my selection of feeders is not limited.

I do ensure squirrels cannot reach my feeders:
-mount on pole, located far enough away where a squirrel can't jump down to it from above
-use dome shaped squirrel baffle under the feeder (metal preferred, but if you get the plastic type, wrap the fastening hub with aluminum tape as the squirrels will gnaw thru the plastic.

Coincidentally I purchased one of these today....Squirrel Proof Wild Bird Feeder - Roamwild PestOff (Mixed Seed/Sunflower Heart Feeder). Seems well made, I got it from a local garden centre but they are available on Amazon. It prevents larger birds (wood pigeon and magpies as well as rats and squirrels)

With a 2.5kg bag of sun flower hearts it came to £33.00.

Yeah I have one of these but mine is for peanuts and mealworms, the only issue i find with the nuts is that there’s only 2 perches so I don’t get as menu birds so might change it to the mealworms and get a caged nut feeder, but then again, I’ve greased my pole and moved it away from the fence so not sure if the squirrel can still get up there! Might be able to get a normal nut feeder?! Haha

Anything Squirrel Buster or Droll Yankee is what you want!!

I currently own the Droll Yankee Flipper and I'm thinking of purchasing the Droll Yankee Peanut Birdfeeder! I don't own a Squirrel Buster feeder but some of my friends do and it works wonderfully. We've all purchased our items from Amazon since they usually have the lowest price and fast shipping.

Make sure you get yourself a squirrel proof bird feeder because otherwise, your feeder won't last longer than a few weeks. Here are a few blog posts I recommend reading since all feeders are built differently!

Best approach is to use a pole with a squirrel baffle to protect the mounted bird feeders mounted above the baffle. This works much better as there are birds that cannot cling to feed and this approach allows for the use of platform and similar feeders.

I have 3 feeder posts and all have a squirrel baffle installed to protect them from the squirrels. The baffles are not cheap but they work exceedingly well and are a one time investment.
