Come and Guess. (1 Viewer)

My gut reaction was owl or nighthawk, but by the tips I suppose it's not.
Not a swift, not an Alcid, apparently not a swallow (larger than that), insect eater.
Is it a tyrant flycatcher (Tyrannidae)? If so, maybe Eastern Phoebe (but underparts are white on this one)

EDIT: Purple Martin is larger than the other swallows. Is this the bird?

Yes it is!! I knew someone would figure it out eventually. Very good. For proof, here's another photo of the female Purple Martin taken at Log Boom Park in western Washington.

Thanks everyone for joining in. Perhaps later I'll have a few more photos for you to chew on.

Thank YOU! I had a lot of fun with this quiz! Hope you have more photos soon!

But not my merit, I just eliminated the possibilities that the others thought.

Okay Joao, since you insist ;), I rummaged through my old photo files and dug these up.

Enjoy everyone!

To get the "ball rolling", I will try these:

1. Great Blue Heron
2. Cinnamon Teal
3. one of the sparrows ?
4. Downy Woodpecker
5. Cassin's Finch

1. No idea (can be the heron)
2. Agree with Larry
3. House Wren, maybe?
4. If it's not Downy, Hairy Woodpecker
5. Gray-crowned Rosy- or House Finch?

Good job guyes!

Larry has #1 and #2 right.

Joao has #5 right with House Finch.

Now keep that ball rolling.

There you go! You got it. I took the photo of the Red-naped SS in southern Washington.

Now the only one left is the troublesome sparrow.

This would make sense, since the sparrow in the pic is singing.

It does make sense, doesn't it? You're right Joao!

Here are a few more pix I managed to find.
