Olympus TCON-17 1.7x Telecon lens (1 Viewer)

Does anyone have subject TCON-17.

I have a C750UZ (10x optical zoom).

Is it worth going for a TCON-17 to use with it?

Helen,

I have the B-300, which is the previous version of the TCON-17. The TCON actually provides slightly better optics and less CA than the B-300. While I cannot comment on its use with your camera specifically, it is a great teleconvertor. Just remember that its threads are 55mm so depending on your lens diameter, vignetting may or may not be a significant issue. I have never regreted getting my B-300.

I use the TCON17 with my Olympus E-100RS (similar lens barrel as the 2100).

It is the best teleconverter I have used to date.

I have also used the Olympus C210 and Canon C60 lenses but they give inferior results.

The only minor issue I have with the TCON17 is that the threading could have been more.

I am using TCON17 with my Olympus C2100UZ (also 10x). I am very happy with it, as it does work well or even perfectly with my camera. I only wish a had a better camera! I am sure you would be pleased with this lens. It really changes possibilities for photographing birds with these Oly's. Some of my photos are in my gallery ("gaukur")

To use the TCON-17 with the C-750, you need to get a CLA-4 adapter. The adapter screws into the camera body, and the TCON-17 screws into the front of the adapter. I leave the CLA-4 adapter on my C-750 all the time (even when I'm not using the TCON-17), with a UV filter on it to protect the lens.

A far as using it with the Fuji superzoom, the spec you need to know is that the TCON-17 has a rear screw diameter of 55mm. I know people who use the TCON-17 successfully with the Panasonic superzooms, which have a 58mm diameter, by using a stepdown ring (58 to 55). With that small an amount, there is very little vignetting. If the Fuji has a much larger diameter, you might get more.
