Xurek

Och aye!
Will be heading down to Newbury on Sunday 27th for a week on a college tour.

We will be camping somewhere called Bishops Green Farm.

I will have some spare time in the evenings and no transport of my own, is there anywhere nearby worth checking out?

Would be great if there were some places where I could see some species that I don't normally get to see being up here in the Highlands.

Thanks for your time.

Hi Xurek,

It's not really my part of the county but the obvious places to visit will be Greenham Common (no longer a nuclear missile base - now restored to heathland) for all the typical heathland species, Thatcham Marsh (and discovery centre) for wetland birds, Snelsmore Common for more heathland and woodland birds.

Regards,

Robin

Thanks RobinD, appreciate it.

I think the one I am most likely able to visit is Greenham Common only a mile or 2 from the campsite. Do you have any information about how to access the area or the best place to access it?

Thanks

Sam
