Can someone suggest an approximate age of my old pair of Leitz MARDIXIT 10X50 Bins, S/N 530xxx? I know they stopped making them in the early 1960s but can we narrow that date down a little?

Thanks.

Hello Jaywalk,

I can suggest 1953 based on my Leitz Binuxit with a similar serial number. Email Leica and ask them. N.B. Leitz binoculars were part of E. Leitz and Co., maker of the Leica camera, which later changed the name of the whole company to Leica.

Happy bird watching,
Arthur Pinewood :hi:

Thank you, Arthur, that sounds reasonable. I recall my father using them about that time but didn't know if they were earlier models from a time I didn't remember.
