Hey folks,
I photographed a poor sandhill crane today with a lower bill that is broken off almost half-way. Still, I observed this crane feeding along the shoreline like the other sandhills. Any idea how it got broken off like this? Perhaps in a fight with another crane? Or maybe the bill got stuck in something and snapped off? Then again it could have hit or flew into something hard, like a tree. Anyway, it's interesting how this bird is still surviving.
