Saw this bird in a grassy area not far from a small pond. Was very difficult to capture. Wattled Jacanas were also in the area.

Can anyone ID it?

Due to the bluish colour of the shield on the forehead, the gingery tone on the sides of head and the overall shape and proportions I think this is a young American Purple Gallinule. Unless I'm imagining it those new dark feathers on the front of the neck seem purplish too.
