Hi all. Will be in the area on 11th March, can anyone recommend a decent birdwatching site or two? Spend most of my time on the East Coast of Lincolnshire so I'm looking forward to the change of scenery an chance to see some new birds.

Any advice welcome, thanks in advance

If you are just up for the day then there are a couple of good spots around Keswick, will you have a car there?

Derwent Water is a short walk from Keswick and can hold grebes and diving ducks, a drive down Borrowdale can give you different views over the lake. The south end is reedy and can be productive. The oak woods are great in spring but you will be a bit early.

North of Keswick is Bassenthwaite Lake the south end of which is very marshy and can be good for snipe etc, there used to be a hide but Storm Desmond saw to it!, you can get good views from the road.

If you want a bit of a walk there is a good round from Keswick, go up Walla Crag alongside Cat Gill at the south end of Great Wood then north and down Brockle Beck into town. It gives a variety of habitats woods, streams crags and open fell.

Hope this helps
