Birding for fun
Came across these deer on a walk in Hertfordshire yesterday. Are they sika deer?

Many thanks. Just put off fallow due tonteei antler shape. Was expecting much larger and wider set.

Surely not Fallow Deer with those antlers. I don't know much about deer, but looking at internet images Sika Deer can show tails like this, and I would say this is what they are.

Nope. These are Fallow Deer. Two-tone flanks, head patterns perfect, long completely dark tails. In addition the antlers are not slim enough for Sika: the rightmost branch appears to be snapped off but in any case what's there shows the beginning of a palmation. Sika antlers are thinner with longish narrow tines, not like these. In profile, head shape is wrong for Sika as well.
