Mike confirms yellow TPEL is a new bird for the reserve from a Polish ringing scheme - he will track down its history.

"THAT'S A WHITE WINGED GULL"

not something I've ever heard before!!!! Won't forget in a hurry, didn't need to say where,as there was a huge gull being chased a number of BHG, once it landed you could see the relationship in size to the smaller LBBGs. Lucky Mike was there for the ID and Julie was there so should have much better photos on hear soon .

"THAT'S A WHITE WINGED GULL" GLAUCOUS GULL B :)
Great photos Julie thank goodness

This evening's Glaucous Gull is only the third record for the reserve following two sightings all the way back in 1972 - a second winter on the 2nd February with a first winter or second winter ten days later; Steve Whitehouse was party to both sightings.

48 years almost to the day - something I never expected but always hoped for 😀 Extent of my ambition for tonight was a Med or a 'new' BHG 😉
