The dry winter continues in the new year, with only a small spell of rains on the 16th Jan associated with the arrival of a cold front, leaving colder conditions.

Single Griffon Vulture & Sparrowhawk have ready been seen arriving from the strait, as well as Black Redstarts which are now beginning to move north slowly.

Seabird-wise, Kittawake made an appearance on the 16th, together with the usual YLGulls, Sandwich Tern, Cormorants, Med Shag, Gannet, Balearic Shearwater, Great Skua, Med, BH & Audouin's Gull, as well as a few sightings on Common Scoter

Wintering birds seen lately include, Ringed Plover, Common Sandpiper, Thekla lark, Barbary Partridge, Crag Martin, White Wagtail, Meadow Pipit, Blue Rock Thrush, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Stonechat, Robins, Black Redstarts, Wren, Zitting Cisticola, Sardinian Warblers, Blackcaps, Chiffchaffs, House Sparrows, Spotless Starlings, Common Starling, Chaffinch, Serin, Goldfinch, Linnet

Some raptors have already been on the move with single Common Buzzard, Griffon Vulture & Sparrowhawk coming through from Africa.

At sea, Kittiwake, Great & Pomarine Skua, Storm Petrel, Balearic Sheawater, Mediterranean Gull, Audouin's Gull, Ganeet, Cormorant, Shag, Common Scoter, Sandwich Tern Black-headed Gull, Lesser black-backed Gull have been spotted.
 
Today's birding in the area

Firecrests were in the area of the of the Nature Reserve together with the usual Sardinian Warbler, Blackcap, Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Chiffchaff, Robin. A Griffon Vulture flew over the rock having just arrived from the Strait.
