Hi all,
The first of these images is a Red-tailed Squirrel from eastern Panama (Darien). The second is a squirrel photographed at 2100 m elevation in Chiriqui, far western Panama (Los Quetzales cabins). I am unsure whether that also is a red-tail or some other form (it is tempting to think mountain squirrel, but where do I find a picture of one that I can trust the id)?

The Chiriqui squirrel had the habit of holding its tail above the body even more tightly than this, with all tail feathers going flat to the sides, it acted as an umbrella ;)

Update - I have been told they are both Red-tailed and that the Mountain Sq is more different -- but no link to a reliable image yet.
