First breeding Goldeneye in Wales? (1 Viewer)

A friend of mine has just phoned to say he saw a female Goldeneye with a single duckling on the Glaslyn, not far from the Osprey nest. He put up a couple of nest boxes here after seeing summering birds in the area last year, and it appears to have worked. I believe this is the first breeding record for Wales.

Great news, but are you sure you should be quoting sites on a public forum? A goldeneye in a nestbox is a sitting duck (sorry) for eggers.

Without going into too many details, the nestboxes are in a position which would make it extremely difficult for any egger to get near them.
